was down the beach yesterday pushing the nj 3.5 through some soft sand putting it under a bit of pressure ,but not that much anyway the AT light came on after about 5 ks ,had 20lb in the tyres, transmission oil is not over full or under full, has just had a good service with a new filter in the box,it did this once before under the same conditions,is this normal for these carsand is there anything i can do to keep the trani cool ,maybe shift trans radiator or cooler thermistat in the motor . what do use guys think.

You speak as though you have an external cooler for the trans, is it large enough and does it use the rad as well?
Fit the biggest external cooler you can and bypass the rad.
Are you in low range?, lower diff or transfer ratios to reduce loading.

This happen to me when I was in robe.
I spoke to my mechanic and he said its best to have it in low range and to keep the revs up high so the transmision oil flowing so it can cool.
