I understand that the OBC was the first real test of these tyres. Has anyone heard reports about how they performed relative to the 35's?

kym bolton tried them out at the cruiser park event and said he lost too much power so he was going to run the 35's for the outback challenge.
i wonder if he changed his mind?

My understanding is that a few of the top dogs had a serious look at running them for the OBC but none of them did.

Mike Smith said that the tyre was too big to fit under his rangie (and his current 35s only just fit ATM and basically scraped everywhere) and to fit the 36.5s he would have to lift it up a heap.

For the diesel nissans they are really marginal on horsepower (from what tony dodds and kim bolten were both saying independly) so to run the bigger tyres they would have to play with gearing and I guess they didnt have the time to do this. Both also thought that they would need more horsepower as well to spin them (cause they are so much heavier) Maybe they will run them in the future once they have played with them some more??

But basically (as with any type of 4x4 event) you are best to run as small a tyre that you can get away with and not necessarily the biggest tyre you can fit. I could imagine that the top dogs wont run anything bigger than a 35 because they dont really need them ATM.
