Having sold my series3 swb landrover to buy a family car for the wife, I have now purchased a swb sierra hardtop with a rusty roof and a few dings but it came with a good softop body so I am happy! The guy who owned it bought it with a reco 1.3 which he promptly destroyed by supercharging it(ran far to much psi!) I owned a stockman ute years ago wich had a corolla motor in it , What I want to know is, is this an easy conversion ? what is needed ? is there a cheap alternative that will bolt straight in? All info will be much appreciated as I need to get back out in the dirt as cheap and as quick as possible!
Thank you!
P.S. Guess I better change my name now that I have seen the light!

Thats the problem with my name. If I get rid of my suzuki for another suzuki it most likely won't be an 87. Although that will still be my first love. Gotta think carefully about your screen name.

If your on the cheap , I reckon wack an add in the wanted column on this site for a 1.3 lots of people pull them out in search of power ,
if your not doing open highway work the 1.3 is fine in my books .
you might pick one up for a couple of hundred , GOOD luck LD !

K series Corolla motors are not a very easy swap into a 1.3. I believe it was quite an easy swap into a 1.0 litre or LJ80 but the 1.3's are substantially different in configuration.
Also, it will be impossible to get a K series corolla motor legal in a 1.3 engined Zook as they are either too old if they were an australian delievered K, or an import with unknown emissions if it is a similar age to the car.
In any case, the 5k would be the only motor that is a better motor than the 1.3. they are quite torquey, but there are a heap of fitment issues.
Also, it seems pretty dumb to take out an alloy OHC 1.3 and fit a cast iron pushrod 1.2-1.5.
I would stick with the 1.3. As you alreadu have all accessories, It is quite cheap to get a FWD 1.3 from a swift and swap all of the accessories over. Christover has done this from this board.

Thanks for your replies! A bloke in my street is moving up north in a couple of weeks, he tipped his lwb over last weekend and wants to get rid of it before he leaves! he wants $1500 it has a good motor ,g'box etc.. if anyone is interested!! I will be getting a 1.3 off of him that he has in his shed so that solves my engine problems!!
Will let you know of any other problems as they arrive!
