as above! im about to purchase a set but are they road legal and would they wear too quick on the road? thanks in advance!

If they have a speed rating and a load rating then they are legal. All you need to be concerned about then would be the size. I am sure in QLD 35" tyres are illegal.

As far as wear goes, look after the pressures and make sure you do the rotations at regular intervals and they should last you. 110TUFF drives around on JTs and said he has no issues on road.

Personally, I think they would be much better behaved on road than the ETs.

What made you choose JTs over ETs?

I have been told that unless the fourby is older than 1985 model than the tyres have to be radial to be legal on road but me not expert.

Depending on the truck you'll get about 40k till the centre is bald. That was with a Disco2 on 33x10.5's anyway.

Check other thread on this subject... they viabrate like fuck first thing in the day, and your teeth fall out for first 5-10 mins in morning, the tires flat spot to shit overnight.. leave for few days and its even worse.

They wont last as said by slunnie much more than 40k klms, the noise of them will drive you nuts after a while, the woody factor is kewl at first, but not really a daily driver tire.

Stick with AT/MT for weekdays, keep JT for weekends, you will get most out of them this way. Remember the best part of ANY tire is the first 5000-10,000klms while they have square edges.

Absolutely. I'm pretty tolerant, but I cracked the shits with the flats spots after about 6 months of DD work and bought some new rims/tyres for the road. For a DD I've gone MTR's, but most MT's will be good.

As far as i'm aware, a vehicle is only legally allowed to run Bias Ply tyres if it originally came with tyres of that nature.

have jt2's as a second set that sometimes stay on for a month at a time..

I have never had issues with flat spots, always back to a suitable onroad pressures after wheelin

as a second set they get fairly regular rotating and i think they are wearing ok so far for the milage (5000-7500km's by now i reckon..) few chunks missing due to playing on the rocks on the weekend..

on road they handle and steer pretty well.. you can hear the lateral grip round corners.

noise is definately an issue, even with the hardtop on now they are pretty loud over 60kph+

being speed and load rated i feel better running them more on the road, and haven't been hassle by the fuzz yet for them..

so as a 2nd set they are great, as a daily driver, they will drive you crazy!

What size?

If they're 35", so what, even if they are bias ply, or not 180kph rated the tyres can't be illegal twice, my 255/85x16's BFG M/T's are illegal.

The real question is are they safe for freeway speeds and wet weather braking combined with your driving skill and the level of stupidity/bad luck you are likely to encounter.

I've been told this, but the engineer just passed mine with these on. I couldn't find anything from the RTA that said you cant run a bias tyre on a vehicle sold with radials. It did though say not to mix carcass types on axles, and if possible on the entire vehicle.

They are fine on the road, nothing fantastic though, except the braking can be pretty unstable at times.

Actually I've had som experience mixing bias with radial, my Landdog only had 8 tyres & rims, 4x SAT bartreads & 4x Roadgrippers, so the times I got flats it drove fine on 3 of one type and one of the other, the worst was with differing front & back, you go round a corner and the vehicle rolls across a few inches on the radials but not the Xplies, making the steering rather interesting.
