My dad just got one. 2.5 hp and 20ltank for $98 auto cut off at 120psi it fills the tank very quick. whats peoples experiences with the reliability of these things.
It recomends changing the oil every 10,000 hours. thats alot of wheelnuts. how many oilchanges would you expect from them?

Also got some airtools. Is it ok to simply oil them before and after use or do they need the automatic oiling canister thing on them whenever used. The kit he bought had 3 air tools and only 1 oil thing and changing from tool to tool would be a real pain.

I more thing do you have to use the specified air tool and compressor oils or can you get away with using other types?

I've had one for over 12 months. I use it all the time, running 2 sets of tyres I use it for nuts often. PLus a bunch of other air tools and inflators etc. It hasn't missed a beat. And the oil still looks good, i've got 2/3 of the bottle of oil left it came with, but am yet to do a change.
You won't have to oil the tools much, unless you use them all day every day. Just give it a hit every so often (i still haven't done my air gun  )
When you think about it, use it an hour a day (can't see this happening by far) and thats an oil change every 10,000 days! Or 28 years!!! :D :D :D

no its 240v he got a an upgrade deal on it because GMC cant supply enough 2hp compressors so the have dropped the 2.5hp (normally $198) to $98

Bang for buck I thinks it's fine. Fits in the garage nicely and it's lasted 18months. I'm happy with it.
