Just some info that some may be interested in. Swapped a 03 intercooled turbo into my 96 extra cab ute. Mechanically fitted with no dramas (as expected). Wiring was a different story as the 03 model has electronic engine management. Took about 3 days to strip and pull apart the GU wiring harness and find relevant wires (30 of them) and incorporate them into the GQ system. Plugging into the GQ harness was quite simple as most wiring was kept separate, power feeds, earth and some dash attachments were required. Some engine bay mods were required to keep it all together. Engine bay looks very full now  and I still have more to put in it. If there is interest in the engine swap I will put info in the members section
Cheers
Brad

Brad,
Would be good if you could do a right up. As GQ's got older the chance of an engine swap instead of rebuild will get more common.

Full engine bay pics will be coming with the write up.
full :
engine, intercooler - means using GQ pre cleaner
dual battery system, redarc isolation switch
air compressor
winch soloniod box

still to install incab adjustable system

not a big list of extras but the plumbing for the intercooler takes a lot of space
