Not hard to pick up half-cuts for under $2k now.
Pre 94 had timing chain guide issues, make sure its a 45 not a 41.
Make sure you can fab if you want to run a manual gbox.

Cheers

speakin to kyle ages ago (ptrool) about his setup .. involved using WRX clutch setups to mate it to the GQ 5 speed, sorry cant help you much there.. but it did involve a fair bit of fabrication in regards to mounts, bellhousing and exhaust.

To keep it simple.. possibly try to run the full engine /box combo and somehow mate it to the t/case.

Good luck and keep us posted..

After reading some of the posts from hazard. I found that it isnt that hard to mount the Infinity auto to the GQ transfercase. As they use the same auto. Just need to get the output bits off a GQ auto and then mate them upto to your transfer.
And due to the V8 you will need to space the engine away from the fire wall. So either fit dual cases or you will need to shorten the front shaft and lenghten the rear one.

Thanks turps I have the two transfer's but the cost of the kit would be the problem, so where does the fun stick end up sitting with the auto.

They are some serious specs for a standard motor.

Eric is in the middle of rebuilding this thing.
New motor since the old one shit itself, lowing the donk, getting better angles on things, and basically doing everything again.

That was a twin turbo set up on a standard motor. It lasted a long time for the power he had in that thing. Good showing of how strong this motor is. They are also looking at putting this motor in the new skyline GTR, that proves again how strong they are, because it will have some big shoes to fill replacing the RB26DETT. :D

I think things have been confused a bit. PTROOL never had twin turbos.
There have been two patrols with VH45's sucessfully fitted in australia that i know about.

One is Hazzard, who runs promotive and who has built up the Blue LWB patrol with twin turbos. It has the standard infinity auto (about the same as the patrol auto) matched to the GQ transfer case.

The other is "PTROOL". Red SWB . Originally built by Mr Howarth (not sure of first name - sorry) in Sydney and sat on 35's with standard 4.2 petrol engine. Kyle in Melbourne bought it and had the VH45 fitted by Sandy at aus 4wd. the V8 is matched to the standard patrol 5 speed via a custom adaptor. Some dude bought it off kyle, then it has found its way to Eric in a bad state. Eric is fixing it up as described above.

Hope to see some more VH45's wedged into patrols. might even get around to fitting one in my own shortys engine bay if i ever i start the build up  .

That would be great to see. If some one is doing it or has done it, would be nice to see a how too topic on this subject. That way it can settle the confusion that people have on this topic.
