Winch Control Box

Hi Guys
I have just picked up my Tabor 9000 and after seeing a few different GQs set up I am wondering where to place the control pack.
1. Close to winch on the front.
2. Under the engine bay where it might be a little more protected and no one can bugger around with it. Is it better if it is a little protected from mud and water? In the manual it say to replace if it has been under water.
I was also thinking of wiring it up to switches inside the car.
Thanks
Eric

I have mine under the bonnet, near the firewall on the passenger side.

Cool, do you have a dual Battery set up over there?
I only have one at the moment. I have seem someone relocate the washer bottle and put the control unit there.

all i did was get 2 x 90 degree bends from an exhaust place and welded them together then welded them to the middle of my bullbar so it sits up and wala!

at the risk of this question sounding really dumb, has anyone mounted the control box inside the car?

Yup I have dual batteries. Make sure you get the diesel battery tray that mounts over the wheel arch and not on the firewall. I mounted a socket on the bar for the hand control and have an in-cab control also. I'll take a photo when I am home later in the week.

At the moment I will see how I go with one battery. I'd love to wire up the controls in cab but not too confident.
Cheers

Is it worth sealing up the control box a little better when I install it?
You would think they would make it a bit more weather proof

Well its all installed with controls in the cab.
One thing I might have stuffed up was the cables. I bought 4gauge instead of 2 gauge. Will this be a big problem?
I am now after a new battery, I have heard of a few guys running one redtop Optima and they seem happy.
If I got one of these will it cope ok with one battery?
Testing with the current battery started ok then the alt needle started dropping until the car almost stalled and the winch stopped.
Cheers
Eric
