rebuild is expensive, Thompsons auto parts are the cheapest and best. Try to get one in good condition that needs no reconditiong as you are looking at $500 plus parts for steering box rebuild.

Hey

I was quoted $750 for a rebuilt box from 4x4 parts at strathpine. They would not sell me one that has not been rebuilt!!

I just left mine to leak... Its easier to just keep topping it up.

Apparently a steering box from a 60 series will work on the IFS hilux?

A 60series or a 75series will not work on a hilux in the standard possition as the pitman arm points forward not backward.

the 60 will work, but the design is different on the hilux frame, they got a lot of crap in the way as opposed to a cruiser.

The 60 wont work in the factory position. The only way to make it fit is to place it either way back behind the diff and make a new steering arm behind the diff to conect it. Or fit it above the diff and make new shock towers and hope the steering arms dont foul each other.
It is not just one extra bolt on the 60 box.

Simply buy an IFS box or root around for a long time trying to fit something that is not even close to being designed to fit.

Any answers to this question?

Can you just pull the box apart, drill and tap the two holes and reasemble or does it need a rebuild kit?

Aren't these nested quotes cool

When I do it I'll be in touch BJ and hopefully you can show me where to drill (again)

In the meantime, I'll try to find a cheap box.

Are all IFS boxes the same?
