2 time in two trips to ormeau :) come back with my charge and filter lights on, and both of my batteries arnt happy campers the next morning. I'm pretty sure its the voltage regulator, doesnt like it whenever i go into "the swimming pool" :)

Can anybody help me on this, i know voltage regulators are sealed with a cork gasket but are they that unwater proof. If so i reckon im going to move mine in the cab, anyone done this also?

Thanks ,

Ben

Speak to an autosparky about a new solid-state regulator. Should be much happier in water.

Cheers,

I had a similar problem when I had a 60, It happen only after beeing in water or mud, the bushes in the alternator where just about worn out.
To get mine fixed cost me $15 I removed the regulator myself (easy job, just alway remember to disconnect battery 1st) and took it to a auto elect to solder in new brushes (new brushes take about 200 k's to bed in properly, volt meter will show a bit low initially)

Try and fit an HJ61 alterhator. They have an internal regulator and will swim all day. I just found a brand new after market one (90 amp) for $400.00 instead of $1500.00 for genuine
