Buggy cam wiring and LCD displays

I scored a little video camera that i was thinking about mounting in the buggy to show the front passenger tyre and the obstacles in front of it. It runs on 6V. Would it be better to power it with a battery or alternator generated power? How do I step 12V down to 6V?

I will also need a litte LCD display that will accept a VGA component input and run on 12V power. Should I be looking at the in-car entertainment type LCDs? Even an old portable TV might be ok. So long as it's DC and I don't need an inverter.

As security is non existent, the solution has to be removable and easy to reinstall.
