Whoa...

With all that work to get it so it performs well, you could convert to coils with a solid axle, which would be more functional for a 4WD application for what most people on here are interested in.

Most folks believe that IFS / IRS is the worst thing possible for a 4WD, and try to convert from it to solid axle.

Just depends what you want to do.
I'd say it would be more a street / rod car style of thing.

Looks pretty cool but why not just go for a coil/air bag conversion and keep the live axel?

It'd be more for road/track/touring setups than rockhopping though. For trail work the V6 Pajero with IFS/IRS is the best 4WD I've ever driven by a country mile. (DiD is a little nose heavy or something). With so little unsprung weight it'll soak up corrugations, remain balanced and ride smooth. An axle that you can hardly pick up just wont do it in comparison.

I suppose the first question we should be asking is what do you hope to achieve with this conversion? Why do you want to change a leaf sprung live axle to an independent? Would it be better to maybe just buy a IFS vehicle in the first place?
