had a nice campfire last night.

Went upto gembrook again (cos i thought it might rain) with a mate in his sr5 hilux 2004.

I went up the bighill at the bottom of goanna track, he couldnt so he went round the back and tried to go down - got stuck - as reversing out he blew a CV (too much steering the bad boy - has arb diff lock) so i pulled him out in reverse.

whilst still tied to my car we are pulling off his wheel and checking the damage when we hear some hissing and popping - turn to my car and the starter motor is given off a nice fireworks display ....... fark then the flames started ..... do you think its easy to put it out ...even after pulling the battery terminals ......the starter motor heat shield deflected the water so it wouldnt reach the flames .....

I am getting a fire extinguisher today !!! oh and a new starter motor for the second time.

Now this is twice of swamped my car and within a couple of days blown the starter motor ..... can anything be done to prevent this help this ....

looking back was a very eventful night ....... we pulled the cv out and used his 3wd to tow mine home - we had checked in to the missus about 7.30pm to say were on our way home its boring .... got home at 12.30am

 all in a nights play !!!

got a couple of pics of his cv ...none of the campfire ..... will post soon

under the powerlines ..... very deep ..... thought id give it a go ....pretty stupid without the snorkel ... but as soon as i stopped i killed the engine and then winched out backwards by my mate.

the water was nearly upto the door handles on the drivers side ...yet the water only trickled inside ...so got stuffall water in.

Oh yeh and looks like something hit the starter motor ..broke the positive lead and was dangling ...that earthed with the solinoid and we had some mobile welding which then progressed to fire !!

but all up and running .... :) .....
