vitara rear coils

hi
Does anyone know how vitara swb and lwb coils compare ? ie the early model ones . I have compared swb and v6 lwb coils and they seem to just be about and inch longer . They compress the same distance with the same force etc so in theory lift the back of a swb by an inch .
My question is what would it do to a lwb 1.6 ? I do not have any of these springs to compare ? Are the lwb springs the same over the 1.6 and v6 ? or are the swb and lwb springs the same ?

Cheers
Chris

Vitara 2dr soft top

452.8 PPI Front 156.5 PPI Rear

Vitara 4-dr

508.7PPI Front 177.9 PPI Rear

(pounds per inch)

anyway, you can see that the 4 door coils, have a slightly higher spring rate. if you were to put 4dr coils in a 2dr, you would get between 1"-2" of lift, BUT the ride will be firmer due to the increased spring rate. may also start to lift wheels without getting max travel out of the shock first.

your question involves springs front a V6 vitara. i am not sure with the new V6, or GV springs, but they should have a higher spring rate to the 4dr vit.

i think it may have a similar result to putting lwb coils in a swb. maybe an 1" in lift? or i could be wrongs, and there may be no lift, but just a firmer ride.

sorry i couldn't help as much.

Yep looking at putting v6 rear coils into rear of 1.6 4dr and hoping for an inch of lift but not much change in ride . Can't be too much diff in the rear weight of the 4dr to the v6 4dr . Front would be a fair bit heavier thou .

Only one way to find out I guess .

Lots of threads about this on Zukiworld.com.
Most lift kits have a higher spring rate a bit so I wouldn't I would worry about the increase too much.My 2" lifted V6 vitara has 1/2 " longer coils at the front and 1" at the back, rest of the lift comes from stiffer springs.
