My GU 3 Litre Diesel is coming up to 80k and I have been wondering about the valve clearances for a while. Has any one here ever done them and with what tools etc. Nissan quote stupid money for the job and the special tools cost $$$$ . I used to do my motorbike shims so I've got a pretty good idea whats involved. Is it worth waiting for a definate noise (difficult to hear over diesel clatter) or is 80k a good enough reason to get into it?
Thanks in advance

What, do you reckon dont worry about 'cos the motor will blow, then I'd waste a valve clearance job!!!!!!!!!!! LOL
No I havent done a motor. 2002 Series 3, I'm hoping that its one of the ones thats been "fixed"
Isnt most of the work just moving s*** out of the way?
How do you know when "it needs it"???
What tools did you use Nissan ones or bodge something?

Surely it cant hurt to at least get them checked, then see how many need adjusting. At least then you will know what to do.
