Question:
Do you need the oil cooler connected on the Feroza? I know that it is handy to have but just spent $150 on second hand radiator and has no oil cooler in bottom tank.
Please help.

I dont think the radiator is connected to the oil cooler.
If I remember correctly, its a separate unit from the radiator.

It is a hose that goes from the oil filter to the bottom tank of the radiator. I believe that it is for engine oil not gearbox.

I haven't got one one mine- can't say I miss it?!
It's hardly a high performance engine anyway..... Just run decent quality oil and I don't see you ever having any problems from the oil cooler not working.

I have pluged the hose from the engiine for the moment. I think that it must be for towing.?.?. I will leave it plugged up and see how it goes.
Thanks

while on the topic of the oil line from the oil filter boss to the radiator, is the flow of oil constant or regulated in some way?
also in which direction does the oil flow in that metal pipe that runs half way up the block to the banjo fitting?
cheers.

If you wanted you could buy one of those small auto trans oil coolers and hook that up to the old lines. It's only something else to go wrong offroad though and leak oil everywhere.
The oil flow would be governed by the engine oil pump, which would vary with revs (.... that's my guess anyway???? )

the oil cooler line on the Mr2 is governed by some sort of valve, doesnt flow through the cooler all the time. was wondering if the feroza one was the same.
and that metal pipe that goes up the block to the banjo fitting, if it has a constant oil flow? i can tap into it for a turbo oil feed.....

The hose actually runs coolant not oil. There is a small hose on the passenger side of the radiator that goes to the oil filter.

hrmmm.... looks to me that the metal pipe went into the alloy boss doobie that the oil filter goes on. i've seen the hose that goes to the radiator.

Jamesbeam, you're right!
I had the same set up on a Laser turbo I had- the coolant runs to the fitting under the oil filter. Can't see it doing much for oil cooling if the engine is running hot?! On my Laser I ended up getting a different adaptor and running a proper oil cooler in front of the radiator- doubt a Feroza would need one.
