Outer Limits 4x4 Board

I am in the middle of buying an 89 in very good condition, just wondering where (if) there are places hilux's tend to rust before elsewhere.

So far just some specs on the roof and the odd door edge where paint was lost.

behind the seats on the floor to wall seam.

pretty much any metal seam. i suggest you pull back the vinyl on the floor to get a good look so you can tell if its lived its entire life at the beach too. as gribble said, behind the back seats is usually where it gets happered. mine has none luckily, mainly to me rustproofing it every year.

i just finished rust repairing and repainting my 88 petrol lux, use to be a kitesurf company ute, so it saw alot of salt. so i can tell u all the spots... lots of welding :{.. k behind both front tyres near the floor if the plastic mold is removed, or try and see behind it, i had to cut a section 600 wide by 250 deep that was the centre front of the roof, where the rear vision mirror attaches, as they said where the rear wall meets the floor, a BIG prob that i recon all prospecting hilux ~88 ppl should look out for/give a poke, is at the rear of the cab on the floor and near the front door on the floor, there is a square section of flat metal under the shell which mounts the cab to the chassie,, have a look.mine was pritty much gone all around both on p side.. (i expected this as i got it real cheap )..

Around body mount under the accelarator pedel. And check the front X member infront of the radiator.
