Depending on the years i think there different :?

Isn't there difference in the number of bolts?

3/4/5 ?

Some guys do run 38's on rover boxes though, but 42's are a fair jump and probably pushing it. Maybe even look at a GU box - those things are huge.

The steering box should be fine but a later model 4 bolt top would be better.
They should be the same as Rangie ones.

Is there any way of adapting a Disco II box to a Defender - I've heard and therefore assume that it is a bit stronger.

If you have a 3-bolt box, fit a later 4-bolt box (differentiating between the 2 is obvious when you look at the top of the box). The 4 bolt box is a lot stronger.

I broke my 3-bolt box

I broke my 3-bolt box in my '85 110. The casting cracked on one side (vertical) when turning the wheel on full lock and leaked badly.

Now have a 4-bolt which I'm told is stronger.
