okay i know the oil subject has come up before but i cant find any info on thses gas oil that all the companies have.

basically going to look at the penrite hprgas

anyone have sugestions on this oil or is all wank factor.

My understanding with running a petrol engine on gas is that the engine lacks upper cylinder and valve lubrication. Therefore i think its wank factor since engine oil isnt gonna make it threre (or shouldnt lol )

I was also under the impression gas burns clearner than petrol so i dont think running gas as opposed to petrol would be adding any impurities to the engine oil that having a special oil would help.

I could be totally wrong though.

the stuff i have been reading say it has to do with LPG running hotter from penrite website

The additives selected minimise nitration of the oil which can occur with the combustion of LPG. Nitration reduces the oil life and in extreme cases can cause corrosion of bearing metal.

so guys any ideas

I use it but don't know if it is does a different job from normal oil. The only thing I notice is that it seems to keep its golden colour for longer than normal oil when running gas.

Google turned up the same thing on many pages that Penrite is claiming. LPG does burn hotter and as a result causes more nitration and oxidisation of the oil. Also found that some LPG engine oils have additivies which create ash deposits on the exhaust valves (similar to carbon deposits created by burning petrol) to lubricate the exhaust valves.

So an engine oil designed for LPG probably would be a good thing if your running LPG. Just make sure it meats the same specifications as the engine oil recomended for your engine (CH4 etc).


Engine oil in an engine running LPG should stay golden colour for alot longer since the LPG produces very little carbon compared to petrol which is what makes the oil brown/black.

Castrol also make an engine oil specifically for LPG engines aswell. Might be worth a look.

Just ensure the oil you buy says on it Suitable for LPG.
Many brand oils do.
Oil co's wouldnt risk a law suit.

My first oil change after i bought my truck i use the penrite Gas oil, whatever it is called, because i run gas. I'm happy with it. When ideling the oil pressure drops to 2kg/cm3 which is apparently good as it means it is alot cleaner. It never did this before i changed the oil. I don't know if that is any use to you. But it does run very well at the moment as well.
