2LT Turbo lag... related to cracked radiator??

Hi gang.
Over the weekend just gone, I noticed two things:
1. Turbo lag... it usually kicks in around 2000rpm, but nowadays it's not kicking in until well over 2000, approaching 2500, just about where peak torque is. But only slightly noticeable in terms of performance.
2. The radiator sprung its patched leak again. Coolant being relieved via the reserve hose, and the whole cooling setup bubbling away. The temp gauge was at redline for a bit.
Now someone's mentioned elsewhere here that excessive white smoke from the exhaust could signal a cracked head and leaking coolant... there was quite a bit of white smoke at startup, but then again, The Beast had not been started for a couple days and it's been cold overnight here in Melbourne.
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance...
