Hi guys,
My brake fluid light staying on solid. Sometimes it goes back off if I hit a bump and then stays off for a while, sometimes it comes on as soon as I start the car and other times it just comes on all of a sudden, but then stays on.
I've checked the fluid level - OK
The brakes are working fine aswell
Is there a dodgy sensor/wiring ? or is there something wrong ?

Could be a ABS Sensor, Could be a short in the wiring.... could be a fault in the brake master cylinder. Hmm hate to say i fella but better take it down to your mittsy dealer and get the diag box plugged in, it will tell you where the problem lies...... They'll prolly charge about 20 to 40 bucks for the exercise and you can pick the repairer after that

Hrm got no ABS, but there is a Mitsu dealer around the corner from my work. I might wander up there this arvo and see about it.
Thanks Zero

Yeah, check that the level float isn't sticking or else the level sensor is knackered or there is a short in the wiring thats only making intermittent contact when you go over a bump or start the car.

It's either the wiring or the level sticking.
Mine does it from time to time aswell.
Take the lid off the fluid container and give the float a couple of pushes to make sure it isn't jamming. Check the wire connections.

Cool thanks guys. I'll check out the float bizzo and the wires this arvo.
If I'm still stuck then I'll take it to the Mitsu place around the corner tomorrow.

I had this problem in a NH it was the black rubber bag thing that was connected to the lid, unscrew the lid and push the bag thing back into the lid, it worked for me

Well guys, I thought I had it fixed. I pushed the float down, wiggled the wires and all was good. The light didn't come on all weekend while wheeling. Then I went out last night and this happened

Light comes on for real now

Ok sounds like your initial problem was a sticky float = easy fix.
With regards to your other problem I split a front brakeline once before and lost all my brakes on one particular trip - scared the crappers out of me I can tell you.
I always carry spare brake fluid and 2 line clamps (you can buy these for $10 at Autobahn). I had to clamp the broken line and then refill with fluid and then limped home, not fun with brakes on only one front wheel
I got both front brakes lines replaced but I got him to make them 1" longer than standard.
I think when you crank the torsion bars you have much more up travel so the front brake hoses are under more stress and eventually fail (thats what happened in my case).

I had this same problem after loosing it around a round-about and mounting the gutter
, The light sometimes comes on when you start the car (the time between the startermotor being engaged and the engine actually starting).
After the spin- the light stayed on for like three days, but i checked the fluid level and all was good.
Ive lived with the problem for about a year now and nothing has gone wrong.
Just hope i didnt ginx myself though.
cheers

it seems to be a common problem, just take the lid off and see if it stops. thats what i do when mine does it ocasionally.
