Engine Compression

I have searched and there are few different figures that come up for the normal pressure when a compression test is done. They vary from 140 -170.

I am getting the donk's compression (1.3L 1990 Sierra) checked out on Friday and would like to know what is considered good and bad compression. Any advice would be appreciated.

From memory i think new it was 200psi, and acceptable was anything above 175psi with less than 10psi variance between cylinders. Will look in my FSM and edit this if im wrong :D

hey all

(kpa) kilopascals - to - (psi) pounds-force per square inch
1 kpa = 0.145 psi

100kpa == 14.5 psi
1100kpa = 145 psi
1175kpa = 170 psi
1200kpa = 174 psi
1300kpa = 189 psi
1400kpa = 203 psi

engine compression specs
note these spec,s are with efi fuse removed
as wet bore will affect readings

f10a
1175-1300kpa
with maximum variation or 100kpa

G13A
1100-1400 kpa
max-v 100kpa

G16B efi
1100-1400kpa (carby G16a 1200-1400kpa)
max-v 100kpa

jimny g13bb
1200-1400
max-v 100kpa

j20a
1100-1400
max-v 100kpa

and so on

cheers
