Are these possibly the best for a diesel engine? coz u can see all the crap and water in the clear bowel at the bottom...

Any different between that and the Lucas one from 4WD systems for $110?

Do they screw into the current fitting, eg: im my 4runner, or is i complete change over with a priming pump etc..

Dan,
they are a replacement for the standard filter, I have 1 similar to that but it has a primer pump on the top that works a treat over the standard one my hilux had on it. The best part is the replacement filter cartridges are only $4-$5 depending on brand and where you buy it.

So to use this style you have to replace the priming pump with this? which leaves you with no way of priming the system. Or do you just add it as an extra filter prior to the priming pump.

Which way is correct.

Nah, mine has it's own priming pump. Sorry it's a crap small picture, but mine is the same as the one in the middle at the top of the picture. It's priming pump is heaps better than the one on the standard toyota filter set up my hilux had on it

I think for the complete replacement from a truck spares place I paid around $100 about 12 months or more ago. It included the filter, sight glass, primer pump and 90' inlet and outlet fittings.

edit.. if the primer pump has failed and it's this type of one, you should be able to strip it and put new seals and o rings in it. Mine didn't work well a while back and I replaced the brass(?) washer cause it wasn't sealing as well as it should and it worked a treat.

Is the standard Toyota primer re buildable.I`ve got a standard primer with a CAV filter adaptor kit fitted.

Thanks anyway i`ll check it out $100 is still cheaper than what i was quoted for a Toyota primer
