A few TJ questions

Ok, she has had the 97 wrangler for a few days now and I have a couple of questions.

There is a knock coming from the front suspension (i think) whnever you go over small bumps and you can feel it through the floor. Has anyone had this problem. Is there a bush or something that typically flogs out?

Is there a syncro into reverse, because no matter what i do, double clutching, changing to 3rd before reverse etc, it will grind when i change it into reverse.

Thanks
Rob

Probably the swaybar link ball joint is flogged out - good excuse for a set of discos ;)
Reverse - I have gotten into the habit of shifting to first before reverse and it slides in every time ;)

Any other Q's? How does it feel around town? Does the engine still have a bit of go?

Yeah it has heaps of stick. I am having a great time cruising aroundin it. More car like than my lifted swb gq but still 4wd enough to get good vision and be fun.

I had a look at the sway bar bushes and they are definately shagged. Is it best to go genuine, may be the only option. How much are they?

Thanks guys, as much as i hate to admit it i am loving the TJ

They are definately fun to drive. If it's just the swaybar bushes perhaps it's time to upgrade to swaybar disconnects? There's heaps of brands available.

Tuffrangie, the reason the swaybar links are probably shagged is becuase it's been wheeld off road with the sway bar links still connected.

This would be the ideal time to get some quick disconects to help stop that problem in the future.

I can certainly help you out there or Wooders is also a Jeep vendor.

If you ever want someone to come and have a look and show you a few things on the TJ I'd be more than happy to come over and share a beer (sorry latte). ;)

Disco's are great but if you just want to get rid of the knock, post a wanted ad on Ausjeep and you should get some stockers virtually free. I just gave mine away which only had done 15km or so!
