Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Borrowed a trailer from my uncle. Plugged it in everything worked ok except indicators. After doing what I had to do I unplugged the trailer. After that, whenever i put my foot on the brake the digital clock would dim and the radio would turn off. Also the parkers didnt work. Located fault to be blown spade fuse. Replaced fuse and all of those problems were ok.
Next problem is when headlights are on the drivers side light is ok and the passengers side headlight is very dim. I have driving lights fitted which have been working ok in the past. When i have my headlights on and flick my high beams on/off the driving lights stay on. The only way to turn them off is by the driving light switch on the dash.
So now time for some more fault finding with the multi meter.
Could possibly be a earthing fault?
What deos everyone think?

Ocasionally I have had similar problems after unplugging my trailer.
When I used the brakes the clock would dim, in other words the park lights would be turned on by the brake pedal/lights. This was found to be the wires in the back of the 7 pin plug. The female part of the socket would slide back and touch another wire inside. Possibly on yours its sliding back and hitting the bumper/chassis and earthing itself?

As you mentioned this all happened after the trailer situation so try the plug first. Other than that any elec brake controllers for the trailer? Or the Auxilary wire in the plug to power lights in a caravan could be suspicious.

Thats all i can think of at the moment...

Come to think of it i bent the plate that the trailer plug is on when I was out 4wd the other weekend. Quite possibly have smashed the back end of the plug and have a short.

I had a lot of lighting problems with my trailor's lights kinda working and kinda going a bit weird but only on the Jeep, it worked on other cars fine. I ended taking it to an auto lecky and he replaced the entire wiring and fitted a 'heavy duty' plug to it for about $70 all up and no problems since.
