GQ Front Door Hinges

I have done a search and looked at the bible but cant find anything on door hinges.

My front door hinges on my GQ are making loud clicking noises when opening. The doors haven't sagged but I think this is a common problem on GQs.

I have tried cleaning them and oiling without sucess so I guess the remedy is to buy new ones.

Question is do I need to change the top hinges or bottom or both?
Also where's the best place in Melbourne to get them from?

Thanks
Mel

iirc the problem is caused by the top hinge "flat spotting" in one area which causes the loud click...

Some here on Ebay :D

I had that. Loud clicking creaking sort of noise. I cleaned them thoroughly and then re oiled them. Not perfect but much better.

Thanks for the reponses.
Will change out top hinges, the ones on ebay seem like they are reasonably priced.

i don't think the hinge is the problem, its the door hold open thingy. you have plenty of energy if you are happy to spend hours and close to $100 to fix a click. ;) i greased mine an that will do

The roller on the door open thingy wears flat due to siezing on its shaft.
Dont use WD40 etc as its only Kero and evaps off.
Use Motor bike chain lube in spray can for hinges and pivots. Runs in liquid and sets as a grease.
On the Above mentioned bit put a dob of moly on roller slide.

So the pin seizes and develops a flat spot. Anyone got any solution to "unsiezing" it, like smack it with a chizel or something. Very awquard to get to. Would love to know "the solution" before I stuff mine up.

I have tried wedging the door open to get to the roller pin but with no luck. Do I have to take the door off?

I WAS QUOTED ROUGHLY $50 & $85 (I CAN'T REMEMBER EXACTLY) FOR THE TOP AND BOTTOM HINGE RESPECTIVELY BY NISSAN 2 MONTHS AGO. :)

Should I change the top hinge or not?

Just at the top of the bottom hinge is the thing that holds the door open when fully open. its like a curvy thing that slides over a circular thing. Thats where the problem was with mine, just dirty and needed some grease. I would check that out before changing the hinges.
