Sierra stalling when cold...

Post by matsmad »

Ive just replaced the motor in my girlfriends sierra 91 model. I swapped the manifolds complete with carby straight over to the new motor, and for some reason it wont idle cold anymore. Seems the choke has stopped working. Any suggestions?

switch the air box to cold mode and check if you have the hot air line from the manifold to the airbox

There is no airbox. I put a K&N pod on there 12 months ago and its been ok. The choke operates. Ive seen it open and close as the motor starts up. I dont know what all the screws do - BTW, how do u adjust the idle??? What i cant understand is that i swapped it over, nothing has changed, and it wont idle cold... thanks guys.

How colds we talking about??
I pulled the whole choke shaboddle off flaps and all, just give it a few pumps on the accelerator and hold it for 30sec at 1500rpm and away she goes.

there is an adjuster screw for the cold idle (ie: choke on) perhaps seeing as the weather is getting colder you need to set the idle a little higher to compensate for the cooler weather...

how far down the coast are ya... i got a set of manuals at my place if u wanna come borrow em.

Theres three idle adjust screws from memory, idle up for extra current draw, base idle and idle with the slug(auto choke).
