This is a technical problem that my mates turbo EFI petrol GU had recently which may assist.

Recently it started to run very hot. Checked water and it was very low. Checked later and found the water had disappeared and ended up in the sump.
Thought it was a blown gasket or cracked head . Turned out it was the the engine had corroded near the water pump and all the water was ending up in the sump. Mechanic told him he had a massive case of electrolocis and may be connected to the twin battery set up. Vehicle is grounded to the engine.

I think the part that corroded was the timing cover. No parts in Australia and has to wait for a hipment from Japan.

cheers

As far as I know you have to be careful not to to run current through your motor... ie run not only your positive lead between your batterys but also your earth or at least join your earth straps...also make sure the body is well earthed and run twin cables to spotties and that sort of thing...

In that case and if your car isn't being driven I would suggest you remove your radiator and have the top tank tank removed and have the core inspected for stray current damage. If the damage to your timing cover is that severe I would be surprised if the radiator isn't also damaged as well.
Has your timing cover been removed? If so and the corrosion damage is limited to one area I may be able to Tig weld repair it for you.
Regards Andrew.
ps I'd love to have a look at your turbo install if possible, I work in Carrum Downs.
