GQ Front Axle Inner Oil Seal

Well, replaced my wheel bearings and checked the CV's up front on the old girl and looks like the Axle Inner Oil Seal on the right front is cactus with lotsa thin soupy oil/grease mix in the swivel hub.

Gregorys manual says a slide hammer to pull the old seal out. Seeing as I dont have one, is there an alternative method of removal?

Also which direction to install the dust seal for the inner bearing on the front hub, taper to bearing or away? Manual says taper towards, but actaully were installed taper away when I stripped the hubs down. (See attached sketch)

Cheers, Deano

Inner axle oil seal at front can be removed with an oil seal puller--use a socket the same size as oil seal diameter to install. Not sure what brand of hub seal your using, but with gen Nissan type, the taper portion faces out wards--ie away from the bearing.

Thanks for the tips, looks like I can get at them without a slide hammer. Job for next weekend then.

As for the dust seal, looks like my seals were installed backwards when last the hubs were lubed (which was way back in the day when my dad still had it serviced at a dealership).
