Guys,
Finally scrapped (hid from the missus ) the cash together to upgrade the Maruti's suspension. One source has highly recommended the EFS and mentioned that the regular ARB is not what it used to be (they sell and install both). The Dakar range is now also becoming available for Suzi's as well. Which way do I go? Or is it just a case of spend your money... take your chances and hope that the company backs their warranty if the springs turn to pancakes? Vehicle is basically used as a farm unit and weekend hunting rig. Plans are for a 29" tyre and possibly the Warn 5000lb winch upfront, that shoudl see me out for awhile.

i love my EFS springs go the EFS you know you want to

ARB without a doubt. I have had them for 10 years now and they have been awesome. They have held there shape well (considering I bought them 2nd hand) they finally died.

They havve a flat spot whee they attach to the spring perches which seems to help the ride. i have some Ridepros up front at the moment and will bbe getting rid of them as I find they are way too stiff

ive seen 2 rigs on the cal 5" system... both HATED the ride quality. like a skateboard.

Most leaf suspensions that give 5" of lift especially with a short leaf like a Sierra is going to be pretty stiff. The problem with a Sierra is the very short wheelbase so you are getting all the feedback from the road etc straight into you. Whereas a lwb vehicle tends to absorb that in its length (I think that makes sense)

This is exaggerated by the short leaves in a Sierra's suspension pack which is why alot of us go to the trouble of using rear springs up front (one reason anyway) also whhy I have gone 3/4 in thhe rear. To lengthen the springs to make them more supple and to improve the ride quality withh added flex another reason

The flat spot that grimbo mentioned will create two different spring rates in the one spring. Each have been designed for different things. The arch in the spring is for lift and load carrying, the flat section will be softer and allow for a softer ride. This is explained in the latest Petersen’s. It is a bit like a coil over with the double spring system.

Say no to arch!

Mate I wouldn’t bother looking at the spings yet. If you have the money go get yourself those 29’s. Get a hammer flatten the inside of the arch and trip the bumper cross member. Then take off the sway bar. This will be heaps of room. Only get new springs if your originals don’t hold the car up off the bump stops. Tires first lift second.

With this size tire lift isn’t important, and IMO lift is never important but flex is. With 29’s you will be so low it will be stable anyway.

yeah i figured tyres forst aswell but my springs where worn and SNAPPED half way up a track

Already have the tyres, set of new remoulded Motorway 215R15 Groundhogs, and when they're gone then I'm hoping to replace with something more aggresive, like the Extreme Trekker 29x7.5x15's. Swaybar came off last week.
Suspension is to give the car a little more lift, but as stated EFS has been recommended in preference to ARB, and I'm not sure if its a tall poppy syndrome thing, or better profits on the EFS for the dealer, or ARB have indeed had issues in the past 2-3 years?
Once lifted, and with tyres, maybe the rear diff welded, then my Zook modifications are over...

Do you know the cost difference? maybe this will sway you one way or the other.

Thats the funniest thing i've heard today.

I've got enforcer springs in my zook, seem to work ok. Have only bent one through wedging the rear wheel against a near vertical wall and reversing.

Has anyone used the suziwest suspension kit(50mm lift with rancho's)?

Apparantly Enforcer caters better for loads and EFS for flex and comfort. Enforcer is a bit cheaper than EFS and made by the same company. I don't know about ARB.

CHOPS1 - few guys here in perth run them... they now come in 3" lifted also... however karmic on these forums runs the 2" suziwest ones and i have 2" lovells... mine are 6 months older, his are sagged and mine arent. ride quality is about the same. better than stock but still a bumpy ride =)

Thanks Alien, what make are yours? are they the same as karmic?
Springs are beginning to frustrate me!! not alot to choose from and alot of them are crap! I'm in s.a and there aint alot to choose from, 4wd systems do a 2' lift kit but it is about $850. I asked who makes the springs and he said someone in thailand(he thinks its the company that made them for the people they used to buy the springs from) Doesnt sound to flash to me and some no name shockers come with kit.
Someone must make some springs that have a slightly better ride than stock, lift, flex, dont sag, and a reasonable price! AAARRGGHH!!

good springs aint cheap though.

Lovells shocks are EFS. I don't know about the springs.
