Hi All
Just after any tips on removing the self leveling unit on a Rangie. I pulled the rubber boot back and could see the piston. There is a 19mm nut at the end of it. There is also a very large (50mm?) very thin nut at the base where it attaches the A frame section. Is there a simple way to undo these? I tried turning the 19mm nut but the piston turned as well.
Cheers

You need two spanners, and need to grind one down to the correct thickness. OneFlat is on the ball joint , one on the Nivomat shaft. There is a thread inside.
Hold the top one and turn the bottom one or vice versa. Maybe tap on spanner with a hammer

I just thought, its a Loooong time ago , but you turn one spanner to jam it against something , then you whack the other one to start it going. You have to have the nivomat "neutral" ie the body jacked up so that the is no down pressure by the Nivomat and the axle is not hanging by the Nivomat.
This is more important when putting a new or reco Nivomat in as your old one is probably dead anyway.

This one won't be going back in....I am adding a ball joint spacer shortly so this unit has got to go.
The alternative was to cut off the little arm the comes off the actual frame just behind the ball joint thus removing any chance of anything touching the diff housing.

Cut it off anyway if you wont be needing it.
