Gearshifter for the MUA5C

Hi all,

Does anyone know if there is a reasonably easy to replace bush for the gearshifter to take the slop out of the gear changes?

I suppose mine isn't too bad at all but I just test drove a (cough cough) brand new Corolla and it had zero movement in the shifter when in gear. I know a Rodeos shift was probably never that good but after 170k of gear changes it could probably be a little better.

Anything else that I can do to get rid of the gearstick movement when in gear?

Thanks

I just took my gear shifter out of my ute and found that most of the play if not all is not in the easy to reach shifter bit but further along that plastic looking tunnel that goes to the front. It would also seem that after the remove and refit of the shifter that there is only play in 3rd and 4th gear. All the others are pretty good.

Could someone else with one of these geaboxes check how much play they have in their gear positions?

Also does anyone have an exploded view of the entire shifter mechanism so as I can see what needs replacing if anything?

Thanks.

Mine doesnt seem to have a lot of play. Just emailed you a diagram of the shifter mechanism. Hope it has the detail you are after.

Thanks Noel.

I'll print that out and take a look at it when I get the chance. I probably won't do anything about it until I need to change the clutch (~30k) as it looks like the gearbox will need to be removed to look into anything further.

Thanks.
