Cut & Rotate Front Diff

Couple of questions
I have a coarse spline front diff (Drum) from an FJ45 Troopie that I want to use as a donor hosing for my 40.
Is the diff housing the same, it looks the same. I know the centre and axles etc are useless to me.
I've been told to grind off the welds around the back of the knuckle where it meets the axle tube then spin the knuckle to the required position and re-weld.
I realise that the spring hangers will also have to be moved.
Has anyone tried this themselves or I am best to get a 'pro' to do it.
Thanks
