hey all, as some of you may have read i got my patrol yesterday morning and it is unreal, went straight from the car yard to beaurepairs and had a set of 35's put on which knock a bit of grunt out of it, im going to get a 3" exhaust for it but in the mean time until it gets made i had the local exhaust place make a new centre section for it with 2 - 1/2" pipe and no mufflers any more which got the power pack and then some, so what im thinking now is,

q1: if i just get the new 3" dump pipe (been looking at the beaudesert exhausts one) will it bolt up to the standard exhaust seen as how thats already 2- 1/2 straight through, the gain from a 3" would be marginal??

q2: does any one know if there are sliding rear windows availiable for a cab chassis cause i like having some fresh air out the bush but hate getting mud and shit in the car so having the side ones up and the back one open would be great

cheers all
sean

p.s forgot one thing, seen as how it has no air bags does any one know if there is a boss kit avaliable to fit a sports steering wheel??

had the gu dyno'd last night, mate owns a dyno so i get freebies when they're not busy, stock 00 gu flat tray, standard exhaust with original mufflers removed, 4th gear through 35's it made 93kw at the rear wheels @ 3400rpm, 325nm torque, i was pretty impressed with the power out put but must say the torque dissapointed me a bit, i thought it would have had more than that, so what ya think, is it good figures, normal, average????

the inlet temp was 60 degrees and it was running too rich so im not going to touch the pump for a while untill the other mods are done

my plans are, 3" dump and straight through exhaust, pwr w/a intercooler, custom air box with k/n filter and snorkel (if i can get my mate to pull his finger out it'll be twin stainless ones) and then tweak the boost and pump if need be

other than the list, what else can i do to get some more grunt, my mate has a 89 gq shorty with 4.1's and 37's and auto (petrol 4.2) and it wipps mine and now he's talking turbos too, i gotta stay in front!!!

cheers sean

Sounds like fun,,,how noisy is it without the mufflers and 2.5 inch exhaust sys straigt thru????? Was the powe5r difference that noticeable???

If you're going to drive in dusty conditions then don't get a K&N filter. They are great for getting better air flow but don't do too well in dusty conditions. The Beaudesert dump pipe is designed to bolt straight onto the existing exhaust system. I'm not sure if you've seen my thread but I have a PWR water/air intercooler on mine. It works a treat but I haven't been back on the dyno yet to see what difference it makes having the small radiator hooked up to it. http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/PHP_Modul ... hp?t=32631
With the factory turbo wound up to 12psi and a 3" exhaust with MTQ dump pipe and the PWR intercooler (tapped into the heater hoses, less than ideal) I got 110KW at the rear wheels with 33" tyres. I had a bit of unused fuel at 12psi so I now run it at 14 and I have the seperate radiator for the intercooler so it should have more kw's now. You can feel the difference just between 12 and 14psi let alone having the intercooler working properly. The boost guage dropped 1psi just by rigging up the intercooler properly. ;)

Thanks toughnut, thats the same intercooler as what im looking at, as far as the filter goes ill prob run a finer filter pre filter (or some thing similar) i want to tweak the boost to about 12-13 too so hopefully it all works,

speed=t/d, the noise is bugger all difference and the power made it go like id put the 31's back on when im running the 35" so yeah it was a cheap upgrade
