hi guys

i have just taken my gear lever out of my 1985 5 speed gearbox to replace the locating pin on it (the pin that goes at the back of the gear selector). I replaced it and went to put the gear lever back in, but when it slotted in it was stuck in third. The gear lever slops from side to side in an arc, but doesnt shift to the right, or backwards. I cant get it to select any other gear!!!! I am wondering if anyone has any idea on how to fix this problem. Anyadvice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your time

I would say at aguess that you have missed the selector when you put the shifter back in. Pull it out again and make sure the selector is in the middle when you put the shifter back in.

ok i hear this problem well as it happened to me :?

take the stick out and check whether the shift rods line up. you will prolly have to remove the housing that the stick bolts into...4 bolts hold it onto top of gearbox. line up the rods bolt it back together and put stick back in. all should be good ;)

Thanks alot inka. I took your advice, and you were right, the selectors werent lining up. Shifts smoother now too.
