Marks can put a 4l holden v6 in a paj but i've never heard of V8 conversions. Cummins diesel in perth wouldn't put a 6.5l v8 diesel in mine anyway. Would have been fun though!

I've seen a SWB Paj, Bout 1988 Model I think from memory, That had a 253 V8 with a Turbo 400 Box, But I Can't remember how he said he went about doin it.
Tho from what little memory I have, he said it wasn't that difficult. But as above, he did also use a different box.

There are quite a few Gen1 Monteros in USA with the Chevy 4.3 V6 engine.
Since the 4.3 V6 is derived from the small block Chevy V8, only the length of the engine will differ.
read here:
http://www.4x4wire.com/forums/postlist. ... oard=UBB69
(Search for 4.3)
I had a Chevy 4.3 V6 in my Gen1 (NF), coupled to a Borg Warner T5 transmission and the transfer case out of the NF (via adapter plate). Great engine, not so great consumption. Dumped it in favour of 4M41 engine (3.2 DiD) and 5-sp transmission (currently being done). Still have T5 available.

MwHaHAHAHA
Daryus just put a set of extractors and a 2 1/2 or 3" exhaust and if a computor upgrade is available for your motor do that mod and thats all you need to do to the PAJ. then get ya rockcrawlers and your laughing.

Daryus, I had Genie extractors with a 2.25" sports system & high flow cat (from a V8 Guppydore) and also had it dyno tuned (he tinkered and changed some of the EFI settings - equivalent mods to adding a chip).
Power went from 76Kw to 92Kw at the rear wheels with the JT2's on.
It was very noticeable and the car goes much better.
I think a 3.0 V6 5sp on 33"s and 5.29's with the above mods will go very well but not like a V8
There is also a 60mm throttle body available on a changeover basis for $450 which is meant to add 15hp or so but more at the top end.

Yesterday I saw an 84 NA with a 253 V8 in it, but the owner didn't know much about it. He bought it already done, (apparantly from a mechanic), and didn't even know what box was in it.
It did have an engineers mod plate attached, so I guess it was a legal conversion!
Cheers, Dean

4ePajero,
Do you have any more info on the 3.2 DiD conversion? I was recently looking at a written off 2004 DiD at Fowles auctions for $5000 AUS. I think the Engine and auto would go well in my NH J top. How did you get the correct ratio diffs?

Add my name to the list of people interested in a DiD conversion!

Sorry for replying so late, I was out of town for a few days.
Those interested, can read about the project here:

The project is actually going well. The first two engines are due for start-up in a few days' time.
