Howdy,

Im still looking into buying a prado, but just got a question,

Has anyone been offroad or away, and snapped a CV. what happens cause it constant 4wd ? Has anyone seen any front hub conversons to free wheeling hubs?

Cheers,

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but you should still be able to home. With the centre diff lock engaged you should still get power down to the other end of the car from the CV that let go.

Maybe do a part-time 4wd conversion like the 80 or 100 series cruisers can, and run manual hubs? Just a thought..........

Cheers,

Pat

this is correct - if you grenade a CV, lock the centre diff and you still have 2WD. it's a good idea if you do smash a CV, to stop and remove all the broken bits before proceeding. it's also worth thinking about, if you're planning going hardcore enough to smash a CV, then perhaps a Prado isn't really the right vehicle for you.

thanks :)
yer, just doing some research on different 4WD's b4 i decide what one I want. The prado are just that much bit smaller than the 80 Series and the Patrol.....
