Can anyone give me info on a Detoit soft locker? i know it is a auto locker and have been told this is the best locker to fit to my 5ltr hilux.Im told it is stronger then ARB lockers and better suited.Am i better off with ARB locker in the front or Detroit auto locker in the rear. The main use is for rock climbing, but i drive it on the road :?

Have dual soflockers in my jeep - love em.

Only killed one so far when I ran it on mud for a week at a Grimace comp at broken hill :)

On-road don't even notice now, don't believe it's overly harsh on other drivetrain components. Does chirp tyres if u drop the clutch but is much better in wet weather onroad than the OEM rear LSD.

Fitted a front drive lockout (teraflex 2lo-uses tcase lever) for 2LO (rear drive only) for REALLY tight turning as with any front locker you'll lose some steering when front is engaged.

Biggest pro for detroits - always on - no fkin fuses, hoses, air compressors, fittings or other garbage to worry about.

Feed em diff oil instead of mud and they keep working and love a good flogging.

i just put one in the back of my 40, i was told by a friendthat knows his stuff that i couldn't kill it if i tried, so far i love it, only know it's there on road when trying to 90 degree turn at full throttle (deliberate attempt to feel it working anyway) or when doin a u turn you'll hear a ratchetting noise. brilliant. best money i ever spent

How much is one of these lockers worth EVLHILUX?

I have a Soft Locker in the rear of my Dual Cab Hilux. The only time I really notice it is when towing a car trailer it make it much harder to take off due to the load on the diff as compared to an open diff. I notice this as I have two near identical Hilux's I use to tow, one with a locker and one without.

Apart from that it is magic and well worth it.
