hey all, just wondering what your opinions are on whats a safe boost to run on a gu 4.2, at the moment its stock but hopefully in a week or so ill have a snorkel and good filter and a 3" dump and exhaust but whats a good safe level i can go to before i get these things?? i just want a tad more grunt, when it was on the dyno last week they said it was really rich so i know ive already got enough fuel at the mo so im thinking wind the boost up a bit and use some of it up, any help or ideas would be great
cheers sean

i'm running 14psi in mine
puts out 99.4kw at rear wheels and i'm running 35's.
i'am at my limits with mine i dont want to run any more boost but i want more power so i will most likely put a ball bearing turbo on soon.

a mate of mines td42 runs 15psi with a 3in dump and zorst and a small intercooler.
hauls ass
not sure on the figures, but shit loads more torque than my tb42
some of the comp guys put 25psi through their td42s (unmodded motors)
and matt pisani told me that his td42 tow vehicle runs 30psi (i wouldnt be suprised)

I run my truck at 15psi in comps. That combined with the water/air intercooler and 3" exhaust has the truck at over 110kw at the rear wheels. I say over cause I've sorted the intercooler out properly now and the boost was running at 12psi for that figure.

Its not just boost. More boost can be less power. You need fuel to match. yOU CAN EVEN GO RICHER WITH LESS BOOST FOR MORE POWER.
yOU MUST GET AN egt GAUGE TO MONITOR EXH TEMP.

Sorry about caps

Yeah the dyno showed unused fuel at 12 psi. Thats why I was able to wind up the boost a bit
