Ok i have looked at adrians pos yesterday and have decided i might go coils straight up in the new lux - this will be determined once i speak to the engineer.
but i need to know what makes a good linked suspension what makes perfect geometry and what is antisquat and what else do i need to factor in to make a A frame rear end work great off road and still give excellant handling on the street
i know there is so much more to this then just bunging some rod ends in to the ends of some tube and welding some mounts on the frame and axle.
any help will be appreciated guys

Good work NAM, if you'd kept your pie hole shut we would have gotten away with it
Bubs, you need to check out the POR board. A little searching on there will reveal a LOT of discussion on this topic. I just hope you are keen on reading... You will have to wade through the typical BS they carry on with to get to the good stuff, but it is there.
That's a good start anyway.

Ahh - forget the sctoch - it seems like Im having a bit of trouble there.
Easiest thing to do to build a linked suspension is to copy something that works. Theres quite a few geting around now.
The thing is at the moment in the US comp seen is that there are lots of rigs with very different setups (in terms of amount of anti squat and height of roll centre - these are the two main things that you can play with) and they all compete very well. The ones with lots of anti squat run tight limiting straps (like John Gilleland) and the ones with less anti squat dont run a limiting strap (like Tiny) or they may still run one.
For outright climbing a limiting strap is probably worthwile on any suspension setup although a very tight one wont let the axle droop as a whole so will cause you to get hung up more in the crawling stuff so this is where IMO the less anti squat and loose limiting strap is better.
I also think that te less anti squat is better especially if you dont have an unbreakable rear axle cause the lower the anti squat the more gently it gets the power to the ground.
