Have just seen this on Pirate. Simple and effective.

Has anyone got these caps in Oz somewhere? a part number would be great. Im after something about 240mm inside diametre.

If you're chasing this type of thing ring AAP in Brisbane, and other cities probably, they have all sorts of weld on pipe fittings. 8" cap about $45 10" cap $72 thereabouts, we deal with them for work so that may include some discount not sure.

has anyone managaed to source these (esp in sydney)?? the above mentioned companies dont seem interested in giving a quote, i assume they are only interested in bulk orders. Ive been calling plumbing supplies all over the place and googling til my fingers bleed and cant seem to find them

I get stuff like this from BLACKWOODS industrial supplies but they generally deal with account customers and im not sure they do counter sales. Should be able to get a steel merchant to get it in for you.

Shouldnt be any drama getting stuff like this from blackwoods. I get a few things from blackwoods, but I find they can be expensive. Any place that sells industrial gear should be able to help you out. We would have shit loads of these sitting around at work, but not much good to anyone up here

Its for a 60s housing so 9", ill need something with 240mm inside diameter to fit snug around the pumpkin, 10mm thick would be nice and if i can get this size it shouldnt effect clearance at all. Also i searched blackwoods online catalogue, they didnt seem to have any unless they call them something else? Thanks for the help people!

Just a thought, you could try your local tip if it has a resale/recycle shop. They usually have a stockpile of various gas tanks might get lucky with the size you need. Keep in mind the precautions that need to be taken before cutting into one.

I was looking if you could buy the caps that they weld onto the ends of a cylinder to make air compressor tanks etc but couldnt seem to find anything.

Try improving your literacy skills before pissing on someone’s suggestion.

Properly evacuating and flushing the tank makes it safe to cut into and if you’re unsure how to do it than take it to someone who does.

Just a suggestion if your having problems locating a end cap.

Ok, maybe my literacy skills need improvement. I reread the post a few times mainly cause I have a patch over one eye from a grinding accident and can see the humor now. Just hope that bridge doesn’t need a grinder “my poor sense of humorâ€

Hey guys i made one of these up myself with an oxy and 4" grinder all i did was bend some wire to the shape i wanted then kept heating the steel till it formed the right shape a have one plate that runs left to right around the front of the diff with a piece cut out for the filler plug then another piece running down along the front of the diff to protect the ring gear. i have smashed it plenty of times and its nto even bent yet.

i ended up making protection from some scrap metal i had lying around as it was too exy for the 10" caps. $50 is pretty good for the 8" ones!
