dizzy graft

Post by Josh n Kat »

hey dunno if this is the right forum to be putting this up in but was wondering if anyone knew of a machining shop or something like that that can graft an ea falcon dizzy to a gq patrol carby dizzy so i can use the centre point injection from the falcon instead of my carby....

When you find out let me know :)
have you got the EA dizzy yet?
Maybe a way to go is put the EA stuff inside the GQ's dizzy...
Maybe worth a few bucks to get a couple of stuffed ones and check for physical fit, then worry about wiring etc.. later.. Maybe some aftermarket internals (ie, MSD or other generic pickups - either magnetic or optical - might work for both if you are lucky.)

I have cressida internals in a 3F landcruiser dizzy (which is a larger diameter) on an old F motor - therefore have electronic ignition but the mechanicals are standard, but I am interested in putting falcon injection on it so if you get pix plse post them.

Are you looking for a distributor with electronic pickups, but old style advance mechanism (weights and vacuum advance)?

What about using some of the bits from a VL Commodore distributor- isn't the Patrol engine you've got the same 3.0 litre RB30 without the EFI? Maybe you could make a hybrid out of the two?

Might be easier than trying to adapt a Falcon one?

Or just use the straight RB30 Commondoor electronic distributor with something like the Delta Digital's Deltamax timing computer and get rid of your mechanical advance as well?

nah the engines the tb42 which is different to the rb30's.

I was lucky enough to pick up a whole dodgy ea falcon for 120 bucks so gonna strip out all the bits from there so i think if i put any aftermarket bits in the dizzy it probably wont talk to the falcon computer, but i got the idea off this forum. just look in the nissan section in the GQ bible under tb42 engine modifications and Bru21 has done it before.
