Hey guys,
I bought some MA60 Supra seats for my rig last night!
Sweet adjustments allround, including pump-up lumbar support x3
Not bad nick, and in the lovely toyota blue to match my shitty interior.
Just wanted to know,
How hard are these gonna be to bolt into my hilux??
What is the easiest way to mount aftermarket seats??
Any help would be great as I wanna do this before the hilux seat gives
way completely.
Cheers,
Bart

Do you want to get them engineered or your just chucking them in?
Best way is to use as much of the supra seat as possible. Use its rails and make a bracket that bolts those rails to the hilux floor. Try to use bolted bits in the bracket instead of welding if possible (engineers love bolts).

Another thing to watch out for...if you need to drill new holes through the floor of the lux for the bolts make sure they are re-enforced (plated) underneath. 99.9% sure that you have to by law anyway...but also a little piece of mind that the seats wont rip out in a drastic situation!

When I installed some cheap Recaro's I got from some import wreckers I used the part that bolts to the floor from original seats, and welded angle iron to those brackets to suit the recaro's. It took about an afternoon to do it, and was approved peace of cake. (QLD)
Heres a phew pics of what I done.
You can see on this that the brackets for the reclining part of the seat and what bolts to the floor is all one. But you can just grind so rivets off so you just end up with the two runners.
This is a dodgy pic of eveything bolted up to the new seats. To get everything lines up, I just bolted the runners to the floor of the cab, and bolted the angle iron to the seats. Then place the seats inside the cab on top of the runners, line up, then tack weld. Check everything looks ok, then remove the seat from the cab and do the proper welds.
Then the final product after getting the seats and all the interior re-trimmed.

I ripped out the bench seat out of my hilux and reinstalled a pair of seats i ripped out of a toyota surf from the wreckers . They wrap around and stops my missus being thrown out of the seat. A pair of black seat throw over covers and they look sweet. The bolt holes lined up perfect so no holes drilled no welding required and no need to let dept of transport stick their noses in my business.
