Attn Besty: Mission Accomplished!

Besty, I accomplished my mission today-
after a few months of searching I've uncovered 4wd tracks near Adelaide and lots of mud!
The Feroza got it's baptism (or maybe I did?) with two creek crossings, the second a bit hairy with the water coming up over the bonnet
. That was mainly due to me going a bit quick, worrying about the old HT Desert Duellers letting me down.... I've got a new found respect for them now.
I've got a couple of pics I'll attach- unfortunately none of me crossing the creek (note: I crossed at a shallower spot than the photos below!). I need to get the wife trained to use the camera.
I've also got a short video of a Landcruiser doing one of the more difficult bits. One Cruiser there, the white one pictured driving along the creek, I think was featured in 4WD Monthly a few issues back? It had the works - fully locked front and rear, raised very high etc and just walked through everything - very impressive. A bog stock looking Sierra was doing the deeper creek crossing, with no snorkel and the water half way up the headlights when it was stopped in the water! At one stage it looked like it was starting to float, but he made it out.
Now some pics:

Well, they're south of the city..... I'm not sure of the legalities of where they were doing this, and as you can see it has been carved up quite a bit
The bit I did was a creek crossing on a track, but some of the other antics that were going on were a bit questionable
I don't want to post the location pubicly so will PM you guys.
Besty if your Email account can handle it I'll send the vid via Email- it's 3.7meg AVI file (need Quicktime to play it or the correct Codecs for Mediaplayer). Let me know if you want it this way- I just tried the link and it was downloading fine for me?

OK I'll Email the video to you- hopefully your account accepts files that big?
The vids of a Landcruiser going through one of the big holes. I've got a couple of other vids too, but my camera can only do 10 seconds at a time so sometimes it stopped just as it was getting interesting. I also need a much larger CF card for doing that sort of thing.
Here are the only two pics I've got of mine, showing my once clean engine bay and the high tide marks on the bonnet. It rained quite a bit on the way home so most of the mud got washed off the bonnet. It actually looked like it had been painted brown- not a good colour for a Feroza!
The fly wire behind the front grill has caught all sorts of crap that was floating in the water. Glad I had it in there to stop it all getting caught in the radiator.
Let me know if you're coming over I'd like to see your Feroza go through some of the bits in the photos.
And of course I can video it for all to see!

So you coming over soon to have a go at that creek and where that Landcruiser went through on the video??? Just make sure it's after we've had a bit of rain over here.
I'm going to head back down there soon and will have some pics of the Feroza doing some of the tamer stuff this time. Just found out tonight the inlaws have just lashed out and got new suspension for their Patrol (raised King Springs and Konis all round) so they'll be itching to go out and test it soon.
Did you ever go to Kuipto Forest while you were over here? A few friends said you could drive around through the pines etc, but went there last weekend and everything has been fenced off. I can see the same happening at that spot too soon.

Nah......didn't get down to Kuipto much, as I lived in the NE 'burbs. Did a bit around Mt Crawford and when I did go South, I usually ended up at the Murray mouth or Deep Creek Park for a spot of fishing. Best trips I did were down to Robe / Beachport and the Flinders Ranges
Not sure when I'll next be in Adelaide.......the missus doesn't like driving long distances in the Feroza and also gotta consider the noise factor for the daughter in the backseat !
Oh......also gotta get the dings knocked out and some rear windows after the rollover

Did you find much around Mt Crawford? I was there last month- at least they haven't fenced all of it off like Kuipto, but I can see it happening. The brochure for the area from Forestry SA states " Mt Crawford is not an area for testing the abilities of your 4WD... you must not drive off formed tracks..." or words to that effect.
If I had some land close to the city I would seriously think about setting up something for people to use their 4WD's on. It could be a very profitable business over here
Oh yeah, the Murray mouth is closed to 4wds due to the dredging they've been doing.
