Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Hi Guys,

did some damage to my brand new front emu dakar leafs on the weekend. I'm running a full H/D leaf pack on the front drivers side, 7 leaves I think it is. The vehicle is SPOA. Was driving some slow deep rutted out gullys, so fully flexing out the truck. I noticed when I got home the front drivers leaf has a bend in the top leaf at the rear near where it bolts to the chasis. So the top leaf is apart from the main pack at the rear of the pack.

Does this make sense? anyone seen this happen? could it be axle wrap? is it possible that my bump stops are to short and the pack is inverting causing the longest leaf to buckle upwards at full flex? I have extended the bump stops to what I thought was the equivelent SUA length, not sure if this could even happen.

On full flex i bend my springs in the oppisite direction, i run 2" springs with leaves removed and havent suffered that problem. You should take them back and let them know. You may have recived a faulity set.

i get the feeling they won't want to know me as the vehicle is SPOA. They warned me I would void all warrenty.

yep, if any vehicle mods or removal of leaves from the pack are done you void warrantee.

i bent a brand new set of springs not too long ago as well.... i did it from jumping 3 times at the top of sand dunes, bent the top leave at the rear side of the diff.

its either excessive movement from the fact that your leaves are more than likely only 6mm leaves ( mine are 8mm now ), they are weak.
also did u have the spring clamps around the leaves? this will cause the top one to bow out also.....

the other thing was indeed ur bump stop could pose a little bit of a problem. if your leaves are at full compression and bending a touch at the bumpstop and you put large load on them the top leave COULD bow....

id be trying to replace the pack, and then make a decent spring clamp to hold them together, so rather than one bending they all have to bend which ofcourse i doubt will happen unless u have a 12 litre diesel V8

fit a track bar

u recon a track bar will help? my first thought was a track bar, but then I thought about the size of the pack. I'll try post some pics of what has happened.

Anyone got pics of front track bars, how they've been done? I haven't even started to think about where I'll mount it, can it be fixed to the transfer case cross member?

if it was the rear, yeh fit a track bar.

in the front NO. u dont need one. look at my rig and i dont run one.

i asked the question a few months ago, but i run a thicker set of leaves now to hold the weight.

u have big problems if u need a track bar in the front.
