I would like any feedback from fellow GQ owners who have had experience in aftermarket or alternattive seating options for the front buckets such as Pulsar or Jap seats. Thanks
re seats

i have just put a set of vs commodore berlina seats in my GQ wagon. had to remake all the mounts as using the original, the seat sat too high. but after remaking the frame completely, its real comfortable. only down side is that changing or modifying seat mounts usually has to be engineered, but speak to a metal fabrication expert or engineer and they will give you all the specs recquired on your mods.

Thanks for your reply, seat mods won't be a problem, as I'm a boilermaker by trade

I installed some SAAS racing seats in my GQ the other week (autobarn special). It was really quite an easy job, only slight mod to the original mounts and they were in. The seats area up hiher than the original ones, however i prefer this, it gives you heaps better vision over the bonnot while offroad.

Hi, I used a set of seats from a 180sx Nissan, used the old seat rails and made some brakets with 2" angle. Pic below.

gqtrav - have you been offroad with your seats yet? from your photo's it doesnt look like you have harness's.
I've heard a couple of stories of people bruising kidneys and such from using sports buckets and being chucked around into the side suports with just a seat belt

I picked up the seats new for about $330 each, they also came with rails (which i didn't use), bases are also available so you don't need to mod the original mounts.
They havn't been in for long so i havn't done much 4wdriving in them, but the small stuff i have done, they are awsome. No more sore backs trying to hold you in place, the seat does that for you.
Shakes - A few of my mates have sports seats with normal seat belts and they have no problem at all. Tuffrangie on this board has had them for about 8 months with no problems, and another mate has had some in his rangie with normal belts for about 10 months without a problem.
I wanted seats that could also take a harness, so i can fit one down the track if i want. If you are quite tall you might need to mod the original mounts quite a bit more, because I'm about 6 foot an only have about 1 or 2 inches between the top of my head and the roof.
