4Y engine upgrade

Hey guys, I've got a dual cab 85 lux running a 4Y petrol engine.
I'm thinking of doing an engine upgrade, probably to a diesel engine.
Which engine would be the easiest to convert, and preferably the cheapest?
I've done a few searches and apparently the 2.8lt diesel is an option, because it uses the same mounts, gearbox and all that jazz? I'm not really much in the know for this sorta stuff, but yea any info would be great.
