Mudtrooper,
Mate have you cut down or removed your upper and lower bump stops?
I cant see how just disconnecting the sway bar on its own would allow enough movement to blow a CV. Thats what the bump stops are there for to limit the travel and stop this sort of failure.
My guess is the CV failing due to overtravel (its all held together by a pissweak 1.5mm thick wire circlip)caused the overload of the tie rod, the threaded portion of which is the weakest point.
Did it break just behind the jamb nut?
Have a good check of the upper and lower control arms and bushings, for impact damage and twisting, creasing etc.
Got any photos?
A bit more info would be helpful, might save someone else, namely me some grief, as I thinking of doeing similar mods to my rodeo.

I bent the tyre rod end on a hill climb and smashed the cv ,due to loss of front wheel travel with the front sway bar still conected. Since then i had custom tyre rod ends made and have had no trouble
