hilux/hiace drums...need some info

Hi,
Ive been thinking of this as an idea, but i need ppl to verify and supply any info that might be of some help
ok atm im running hi-ace diff and drums at the rear. not sure exactly wat year they are, but they are fairly late model items. Are hilux and corresponding hiace drums the same? please take into account it is a little car (about the size of a ke10/20 corolla), and so weight and size should be taken into account
also, it isnt a 4wd, but pls dont shoot me
the problem with them is they are realy big...unnecessarily big. and are really heavy. the drum itself weighs a bit. because it is part of the driveline also, it requires the motor turn extra weight which shouldnt be there. i say shouldnt be there because i will probably have to restrict the fluid pressure going to them anyway to stop them locking up early.
apart from inertial weight, the other problem with them is that they require minimum of a 14" rim to fit. for street duties, i will be running a 15" or 16" anyway to clear the front brakes. but the only size slick that fits decently that MT makes is a slick which fits in a 13" rim.
i remember reading somewhere the different sizes of drums that came out in hilux's and hiace's.
the question is does anyone know if there were any models that came out with drums that would fit in a 13" rim? And would these fit straight on my diff? i assume i'd have to change the backing plate, but that doesnt bother me if i find 1 im after. would i be able to use my current axles
also, pls take into account i know very little on this subject, so assume complete dumbness
cheers
