Hi
Is there a thinner tyre than a 10.5 for a 31"? Looking at a thinner tyre for the spare on the zook. Running 31x10rs and the rear door is complaining.
cheers

235/85 x 16 or 750 x 16 both about the same as 31 x 15

235/85 x 16 is actually closer to a 32" but is a touch thinner.
By aware, an LT rated tyre is usually a straighter sidewall than an P rated tyre, thus making the carcass stand a bit thinner with a squarer tread shoulder (ie more bite at the shoulder).

750 16 in 6ply should still be lighter than a 31, maybe not a lot but thats about all there is, unless you go to a tractor tyre, 8 - 16 4ply should be about right.............

can you get your hands on a half decent alloy rim .. will shed quite a bit of weight ..

you could run a smaller tyre and put it on the front if the inevitable happens.. no help in 4wd of course, but it will get you home and to the tyre shop etc

Is the 31x10R fouling on the door? If so can you just space the mount a little to clear?

If you don't need it often, and don't mind a bit of physical activity, consider carrying only the tyre without a rim.
Several issues with this concept:
May not be legal.
You'll need to swap tyres on rims if you get a flat.
You're buggered if your rim is damaged beyond use/repair.
Of course, finding a lighter rim is probably the first step, then a lighter tyre. As suggested, P construction will be lighter, followed by LT with fewer plies.
Cheers,
Scott
